A teaser on a blogsite is like a little taste or morsel of a meal to come. Consider this Teaser #1…
Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 7th, we invite you to join us for a whole new blog series:
Over a thirty-six week period (September 2016 through June 2017), we invite you to take a deeper look into twelve characteristics of a godly life. In other words, we’ll take a journey into the realm of Christ-centered discipleship. This blog series (published every Monday, Wednesday & Friday) is set up so you can work through our twelve discipleship themes as an individual or as a group, and as we see it, this will be a tool in helping you and others in your circle of influence to walk closer to the Master, embracing His call to contemplative activism. Each blog will include questions to ponder and discuss! Join us! Click here for more info!
Here’s just a few teasers (morsels) from our first installment of blog sessions…just to whet your appetite:
One well-versed pastor recently told me that he believed the American church is churning out more “spectators to the faith” as compared to actual Christ-followers. My pastor friend just might be right!
Sadly, over the last few decades, it seems that true Christian discipleship has been reduced, re-defined, and re-shaped using criteria that lies far outside the boundaries of Christ Himself. Speaking as a pastor in the American church for over thirty years, it’s my humble opinion that a good portion of those who call themselves Christians today, are defining that term using components that are quite foreign to what the New Testament actually teaches!
It was Billy Sunday, the great evangelist from the earliest part of the 20th century, who once quipped, “Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going into a garage makes you an automobile!” Too bad more of us Americanized-Christians didn’t listen a bit better to Billy back in the day.
Consider yourself teased! Join us Sept. 7th!
