In our busy society, we rarely take time to stop long enough to take a breath, let alone give some extra time to turn our ears toward Jesus. Learning the fine art of spiritual companionship (direction) is one of the best ways you can help both yourself and others “step out of traffic to take a long, loving look at your High God” (Psalm 46:10 - The Message Bible)
Working alongside Dr. Frank Rogers, Jr. and the Center for Engaged Compassion, an experience in our TCA School of Spiritual Direction (TCA-SSD) offers participants an immersive, integrated and robust introduction to the ministry of spiritual direction. Through the combined experience of reading superb literature, engaging in individual and group exercises, paying close attention to one’s life, practicing spiritual disciplines, receiving spiritual direction, and offering direction – all in a communal setting – students move toward competency as spiritual directors.

About us...
Marty & Sandy Boller
After 30 years in pastoral ministry, planting two Vineyard Churches in Iowa, Marty Boller and his wife, Sandy, have served as highly respected trainers in spiritual direction/spiritual formation with the internationally recognized Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction.
Between 2015 and 2020, the Bollers hosted multiple cohorts in Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI, Peoria, IL, Kansas City, MO, Wichita, KS, Ames, IA, and Boise, ID. And when COVID hit in 2020, they successfully moved all of their training on-line, working primarily with students from the U.S., Canada, and England, yet also successfully training individuals in Egypt, Turkey, Hungary, Guatemala, and Zimbabwe.
Today, the Bollers, working alongside Dr. Frank Rogers, Jr. and the Center for Engaged Compassion, oversee The Contemplative Activist School of Spiritual Direction (TCA-SSD), offering a variety of training options in Christ-Centered, Compassion-Based Spiritual Direction with an IFS Twist.
