Teaser #3 – Coming Next Week!

A teaser on a blogsite is like a little taste or morsel of a meal to come. Consider this Teaser #3…

Beginning next Wednesday, Sept. 7th, we invite you to join us for our new blog series:

A Journey Into Christian Discipleship: Twelve Characteristics of a Godly Life.

Over a thirty-six week period (September 2016 through June 2017), we invite you to take a deeper look into twelve characteristics of a godly life. In other words, we’ll take a journey into the realm of Christ-centered discipleship. This blog series (published every Monday, Wednesday & Friday) is set up so you can work through our twelve discipleship themes as an individual or as a group, and as we see it, this will be a tool in helping you and others in your circle of influence to walk closer to the Master, embracing His call to contemplative activism. Each blog will include questions to ponder and discuss! Join us!  Click here for more info!

Here’s just a few more teasers (morsels) from our first installment of blog sessions…just to whet your appetite:

If any reasonably minded man or woman would fully understand the amazing, free gift that is waiting for them in the gentle hands of Jesus, I’d think most would consider it utter nonsense to ignore it. You see, true Christianity, as presented in the New Testament, contains a night-n-day difference that truly sets it apart from any comparable religion on the planet. Religion, my friends, is the human pursuit of God. New Testament Christianity, however, is God pursuing humans.

You see, Adam and Eve didn’t realize this at the time, but later, they found out that none of us actually live alone on this planet! As the Scriptures indicate, and as human folly fully illustrates, there is an evil, self-centered and loveless entity trafficking this planet. He goes by several different names. Lucifer, Satan, and the Devil are some of his better-known monikers, but its’ his work that actually identifies him the best! Sadly, Lucifer does his very best work when he oozes himself into our lives, sweet-talking us with half-lies about who we really are. His voice is never really very loud, but his words are very pregnant with seeds of doubt. And its’ him and his army of fallen angels who make living on this planet a very dangerous endeavor indeed; even for those of us who choose to remain with God as our Guide and Protector.

You see, if I’m really gut honest about myself, I’m pretty shamed about the way I’ve lived my life…how about you? I’ve tried my best most of the time to be successful but, truthfully, the results are pretty unimpressive…certainly nothing to be shouting about to others. So inevitably, most of us take that shame and self-pity and go hide behind the nearest tree, hoping others will never find us there…especially God. And yet…if truth be known, you and I really don’t want to remain alone, hiding behind that tree for the remainder of our lives. Inside, we secretly hope and pray that someone will eventually find us and recognize us for who we really are…but sadly, for many of us, that scenario is only a distant hope, a dying promise, or a rarely-spoken-of pipe dream. But then…there’s God, the Seeker. The One who really loves us more than we could ever imagine. Wait, what’s that I hear? It’s a loud voice, yelling out across the yard…Ready or not…here I come!

Consider yourself teased!
