Happy Labor Day! Join Us On Wednesday!

A teaser on a blogsite is like a little taste or morsel of a meal to come. Consider this Teaser #4…

Beginning in two days! Wednesday, Sept. 7th, we invite you to join us for a new blog series:

A Journey Into Christian Discipleship: Twelve Characteristics of a Godly Life.

Over a thirty-six week period (September 2016 through June 2017), we invite you to take a deeper look into twelve characteristics of a godly life. In other words, we’ll take a journey into the realm of Christ-centered discipleship. This blog series (published every Monday, Wednesday & Friday) is set up so you can work through our twelve discipleship themes as an individual or as a group, and as we see it, this will be a tool in helping you and others in your circle of influence to walk closer to the Master, embracing His call to contemplative activism. Each blog will include questions to ponder and discuss! Join us!  Click here for more info!

Here’s just a few more teasers (morsels) from our first installment of blog sessions…just to whet your appetite:

In truth, God originally created man to be an eternal being, made just a little lower than angels and crowned with glory and honor (see Psalm 8: 5). But as we all know from reading the ancient story found in the first few pages of Genesis, this God-breathed plan of eternal life for mankind took a sudden detour about as fast as one can say ‘apple tree!’ So in one fell swoop, our ancestors decided that they would rather take their lives into their own hands, tipping their hat to the Creator, but ultimately believing in their own creative ability to manage life outside the covering and protection of the Heavenly Father. Brave move, some might say. But, as history seems to show us, a very short-sided decision indeed!

As Jesus was preparing to pay the supreme price for buying back our souls out of this fallen world, He told His friends that those who love Him and follow Him in this way of life He modeled for us, will be given a unique Gift that this world just won’t understand. That Gift is a Person. A Companion. A Friend, who will be to us just as Jesus was to His earthly friends while they were walking through their loveless, sightless world. The Holy Spirit, indwelling and empowering us, gives us God’s Truth, and gives us God’s Wisdom, and gives us God’s Peace. In all honesty, these three gifts are more valuable than all of the riches this planet could ever offer. You see, in our dog-eat-dog world, there’s an on-going pursuit of great power and wealth, but a massive void when it comes to those who are pursuing the greater benefits that flow from God’s Truth, Wisdom and Peace.

You see, for those who are persistent enough to just keep hanging onto Jesus, and continually defer to the leadership of the Spirit (or as Paul puts it, “when we live God’s way”), there will be a very good thing that starts to happen in our lives! Just like a healthy branch on an apple tree produces beautiful apples, in the right time and in the right season, our lives in Christ will begin to sprout fragrant blossoms, which will then turn into juicy, ripe fruit…Kingdom fruit for the glory of God!

Consider yourself teased! See you Wednesday!
